In the lead up to Christmas, nothing is quieting down. Photography work is picking up, I have had three jobs in the last three months and I know a couple more will be booked after the new year.
My husband and I are in the process of looking for a new place to live, which although is an exciting new journey, to have to organise before Christmas is a bit hectic. However, I trust that God is in control and despite the craziness, everything will work according to His plan.
For the first time in five years, my husband and I will not be travelling anywhere on Christmas day; we are having Christmas at home with his parents. I know of so many people who don’t want to have to organise and cook for Christmas, but for me this is a treat! I am in the process of working out a menu, which will most likely involve a roast and some christmas cupcakes! Again, this cake decorating magazine that I buy weekly has impressed me with a Christmas edition with some easy to bake goodies!
I am looking forward to the new year, setting new resolutions, which, truth be told, may not even last a week! Although I have managed to keep most of my resolutions for this year with the exception of one. I think that’s a pretty good effort.
This year has been a whirlwind. My health has been all over the place, my photography business was started, my full time job that I am in is becomming more challenging, and plans for a future family. Yet come to the end of the year, I am on the mend, physically and emotionally and really thankful to God for His patience with me and my countless mood swings.
I am also falling more and more in love with the husband God has so lovingly blessed me with. In my quiet time today, I was going over being content in any circumstance. I know this year I haven’t been content at times, and the advice in the devotional I was reading gave the good advice of thanking God for 10 things.
When I started counting my blessings, I realised that I don’t have enough time or paper to write down what I have that God has blessed me with. How Great is God! And when I think about it, I have to say that I’ve got a lot going for me. When God is for you, who can be against you?
Christmas draws ever nearer; the shops are getting fuller, people are becoming more and more self involved and greedy. People are getting their meals ready for Christmas lunch, stressing over the busyness and worrying that things won’t go to plan on Christmas day.
I encourage people to stop for a moment and remember why Christmas exists. It exists because the Messiah came to earth. He came to be glorified. He came to die, for everyone’s sins. And He taught us that it is better to give than to receive.
How can you give this Christmas? There are so many who can’t even afford presents for their children, or won’t even see their kids this Christmas. Can we make a difference, not just for this Christmas, but in every day life, to remember that the reason Christmas exists is because God Saves All Sinners. Even me.
May God be praised and be glorified in all that He is and all that He does.
Oh, and of course, I promise I will post some pics of my Christmas, and if I have permission, of the jobs that I have completed this year.
May Christ Jesus bless you this Christmas!
God Bless!! 🙂
